Stabbing Incident on Campus
Two males got into an argument outside a cafe in one of the resident halls Tuesday evening which escalated into one of the men, a student, being stabbed in the upper leg. The other man, who is a former student, ran away from the area and is being sought in the case.
The men are thought to be 18–20 years old.
The argument broke out about 10:45 p.m.
The injured man was transported by helicopter to a Macon Hospital.
No other students were injured and the safety of the resident students, about 1,000 of them, is in no way compromised, according to Gordon College Police Chief Jeff Mason.
“There was another activity going on in a different area of campus and we had officers in that area,” Mason said. “One officer heard a fight call transmitted over the radio and came to the scene of the stabbing. He immediately began to seek medical help for the young man.”
Mason said there is little else that can be released since the investigation is in the preliminary stages.
“We are being assisted in the investigation by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department and the Barnesville Police Department,” Mason said.
