Focus On The Children’s Storefront
The faculty at The Childrens Storefront are proud of their 7 to 1 student-teacher ratio. As well they should be. Small class sizes have become one of the primary parent concerns and an important metric for private school effectiveness. The Childrens Storefront wins on both counts.
The school is located in Harlem and offers tuition-free education to students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The Childrens Storefront maintains an independent association free from religious ideology or institutional bias.
The Childrens Storefronts success rate in keeping high school students in school is 90%, well above the community average of 33%. Graduates go on to enter prestigious high schools and parochial schools such as:
- Buxton School
- Brooklyn Friends
- Northfield Mount Herman in Massachusetts
- The Masters School
- The Marvelwood School in Connecticut
- Holderness in New Hampshire
- Xavier
- Notre Dame
- LaSalle in New York City
- Brooklyn Technical High School
- Frederic Douglass Academy
- Young Womens Leadership Academy
The Childrens Storefront was started in 1966 as a place for Harlem children to go for a variety of educational activities. By 1970, the school has blossomed into a full-blown preschool. It has since grown into an elementary school offering programs up to eighth grade.
